Doctor Strange: 31 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

Having seen his hands smashed and his career ended, Strange heads to Tibet having learned from Benjamin Bratt's recommendation that he is basically magic (which Strange then completely forgets when he gets there and turns back into a cynic) and there's a way Strange can have his hands back.

Tibet has always been a setting of part of his early backstory in the comics too. As in the film, he went there to train, including a "smattering of martial arts" work.

Weirdly, Kevin Feige had said for a long time that Strange wouldn't go to Tibet - no doubt thanks to pressure from the now lucrative Chinese market. Whatever the reason, he clearly changed his mind and we get to see a redo of the comics origin.
