6. Rachel McAdams' Role Revealed
There's been a lot of speculation about who Rachel McAdams is playing in Doctor Strange, with Clea an early suggestion and more recent reports pointing to Night Nurse. The latter was Strange's love interest in "The Oath", a popular miniseries which this movie has already borrowed Nicodemus West from. However, it sounds like the Southpaw star is going to end up playing an entirely new creation in the movie. "Rachel McAdams plays a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into he role of a sorcerer," Kevin Feige explains. "She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity." That's definitely intriguing, though Marvel has infuriatingly declined to reveal her character's name, leaving us still in the dark about her identity. Benedict Cumberbatch meanwhile confirmed that her character will be a love interest of sorts to the Sorcerer Supreme, and based on everything we've now heard, an updated version of Night Nurse (a.k.a. Linda Carter) seems most likely, albeit without her habit of spending her night's treating New York City's vigilantes. After all, there's really no room for a character like that in the secret identity free Marvel Cinematic Universe.
