Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 10 Biggest MCU Implications
9. The End Of Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff has had a rough time since being forced to kill off Vision in Infinity War. Following her return from being 'snapped', her entire arc in Wandavision was dealing with unhealed trauma, allowing her to come into her full potential as the Scarlet Witch.
In the film, her obsession with being reunited with Billy and Tommy (who exist merely as creations of the hex in the mainline MCU) drive her motivations. Whilst she initially appeared reasonable, Wanda drops all pretence of reasonableness with Stephen and demands that America Chavez be handed over.
This incarnation of the Scarlet Witch effectively serves as the movie's main villain as she chases Strange and America across the multiverse by 'dream-walking' into her alternate self, holding nothing back against all who oppose. She decimates the Illuminati one by one in quick succession, and comes close to finishing off Wong and Strange a couple of times as well.
Ultimately, her desperation to being reunited with her kids falls apart when she realises she was separating the kids from their own mother (her alternate self), leading to destroying the Darkhold across the multiverse by collapsing Mount Wundagore around herself.
