Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 10 Biggest MCU Implications
7. Clea Is Coming
Whilst the MCU plays up the relationship between Stephen Strange and Christine Palmer, this relationship is a creation of the MCU and is not native to the original 616 comics.
Christine Palmer in the comics has no relationship with Strange, and instead is a minor character who is one of the Night Nurses. On the other hand, Clea is a longtime Dr Strange love interest from the comics who served as his disciple and eventually succeeded him as Sorcerer Supreme.
There have been various rumours surrounding her appearance in the film after the casting of Charlize Theron leaked to the public. Our mid-credits scene confirms this as it showcases her encountering Strange and proceeding to warn him that his actions have caused an "incursion" between realms. She then invites him to join her in the Dark Dimension.
With her brief appearance, it is clear that her powers have already been well established in-universe and that she has had experience with the Dark Dimension. It is unclear as to how she has gotten to know Stephen Strange, but the potential is there for future instalments between the pair.
