9. What Happened To The Original Mordo?

Despite Chiwetel Ejiofor appearing in the film, he ultimately only shows up as the Earth-838 variant of Karl Mordo, and we never even once see the Earth-616 version from the original Doctor Strange film.

Beyond a single off-hand reference to that version of Mordo from Strange himself, he's basically a non-entity in the film despite actively plotting his revenge on Stephen the last time we saw him. So, what gives?

Strange says that Mordo has "dedicated his life to trying to kill [him]," so it's quite possible the two have had a battle or two since the events of the first film.

However, persistent pre-release leaks did suggest that the 616 Mordo did originally have a role in Multiverse of Madness that was cut during post-production.

If the rumours are true, Mordo was set to show up at Wanda's idyllic orchard home near the start of the film and would be summarily executed by her - decapitated, if the leaks are indeed legit.

As it stands, 616 Mordo is basically in limbo at this point.
