Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

7. What's Going On In The Dark Dimension?

The film's mid-credits scene sees Strange approached by the sorceress Clea (Charlize Theron, shockingly enough), who informs him that his prior actions with the Darkhold have triggered a universe-destroying incursion, before imploring him to follow her to the Dark Dimension.

There's a lot to unpack here. We know that incursions are very, very bad, but how far along is this one? Can Strange still prevent it from fully wiping out another universe? And is the Dark Dimension itself one of the realms involved in the incursion?

Also, given that Clea is the niece of Dormammu in the comics, could it all be a trick intended to ensnare him?

Clea is generally depicted as an heroic character in the comics - Strange's eventual wife, in fact - so it's far more likely she's being introduced as Strange's love interest in a potential sequel. A brief, comedic reuinion with Dormammu in the Dark Dimension seems probable, though.

Naturally you don't lock down an A-list actress like Charlize Theron for a throwaway role - or, at least, you damn well shouldn't - so if a third Doctor Strange movie enters development in timely fashion, it could very well co-star Strange and Clea.

That's one way to get over Christine (Rachel McAdams) tying the knot, eh Steve?
