6. Are America Chavez's Parents Still Alive?

America Chavez's (Xochitl Gomez) heartbreaking backstory reveals that she became separated from her two mothers in childhood when her multiverse-traversing powers began to manifest.

After a wasp landed on her hand and scared her, her abilities were activated, opening a multiverse portal which dragged her parents away to parts unknown.

Ever since, America has lived with the guilt that she "killed" her parents, even if there's no conclusive proof of that.

As Strange says to America, it's entirely plausible that her parents ended up in a not-completely-terrible universe and were able to stay alive, though considering some of the hostile universes we catch glimpses of throughout the film, the opposite is also totally possible.

This is a coin flip, basically. It could go either way, though if Kevin Feige is serious about developing America as a long-term character with an important role in the MCU, it would certainly make sense to answer this question eventually.

Confirming America's parents are dead seems unlikely - especially as they're two of the few openly gay characters in the MCU - so their fates will probably remain ambiguous for the foreseeable future.
