Doctor Strange Review: 8 Ups & 5 Downs

7. The Music

Though a lot of Marvel fans won't want to acknowledge any short-comings, the MCU has suffered from a lack of musical personality so far. Guardians Of The Galaxy is obviously the exception, but that wasn't a case of a score working - it was more a gimmick that landed perfectly (and probably will again).

It's a strange shortcoming too, considering how tied theme music has always been to superheroes in the past, but Marvel have always seen fit to write orchestral but ultimately forgettable accompaniments to their action. There's a general shared brand to it, but it doesn't have great deal of charm.

Wth the introduction of the genius Michael Giacchino, Marvel have found a composer able to express that missing personality - he actually reintroduces the idea of Strange having a theme and it's a wonderful addition.
