Not so Lord-like after all...

Gallifrey. The skies were burnt orange, and the trees had silver leaves. The two suns would set in the south, and on the continent of Wild Endeavour lay the citadel of the Time Lords. The most mighty, noble race in the galaxy.

But were they as noble as they seemed? We've seen how the society of the Time Lords created psychopaths like The Master and The Rani, we've seen them doom the human race, and even turn against their own. They're not so perfect after all.

Here are 5 notable times the noble Time Lords became more villainous than even the Daleks.

5. Corrupting The Master & Resurrecting Gallifrey (Series 3 & 2009 Specials)

One of the most dastardly Time Lord deeds came in the form of implanting a never-ending drumbeat inside the head of The Master. Series 3's The Sound of Drums revealed that the source of The Master's insanity was the sound of the drumming in his mind, and it was revealed that the Time Lords themselves were responsible for this during the events of The End Of Time Parts 1 & 2.

Rassilon wanted to create a link outside of Gallifrey's time-locked zone, and implanted the drumbeat in The Master's mind to create that link. The impact this had on The Master's mental state has led to a magnitude of consequences, including forcing The Doctor to regenerate at least once! Think of the lives that would've been saved if The Master wasn't driven insane by the Time Lords themselves, including the egregious act of genocide The Master himself caused to his own race during the events of Series 12. Rassilon had obviously not thought his plan through.
