8. Richie Tozier: Adam Pally

Bill Denbrough 2
New Line / ABC

Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things fame made Richie Tozier a standout character in Part I, so whoever plays the grownup Richie in Part II will need to have an equally manic screen presence. Now a famous Radio DJ with a million famous voices, Richie was always the class clown, but when he gets older he’ll need to be played by an actor that’s as skilled comedically as he is skilled dramatically, and Adam Pally can definitely pull that off.

In shows like Happy Endings and The Mindy Project, Pally has proven that he is one of the funniest actors working today, but it’s his impressive run of indie films like Joshy and Shimmer Lake that prove he can play dramatic as well. When Richie Tozier is grown up he still tries to “have some chucks,” but the horror of coming back to Derry and leaving behind his protective bubble of stardom is a big adjustment for him. Pally could play that mix of apprehension and nervous laughter perfectly, bringing some levity to the horror film while not taking away from the emotional core of the story.

While there’s no doubt that Richie will be a coveted part among comedic actors wanting to branch out and prove their range, the fact that Pally has already proven himself in other genres successfully would bode well for him landing the role of Tozier.
