Dream Casting The Losers Club From 'It' As Adults For The Sequel

2. Bonus Ben: Jake Gyllenhaal

Bill Denbrough 2
New Line / Fox Searchlight

Just for fun let’s take a look at an actor who is probably too big to be in It: Part II, but would nonetheless crush the part of Ben Hanscom. Actually, Jake Gyllenhaal would crush the part of most of these characters; that’s how much of a chameleon he is. Whether he’s a feeble hypochondriac, a reluctant leader, or a scared comedian, Gyllenhaal would make the smallest moments memorable and stand out from anyone else in the Loser’s Club. But more than anyone, Gylllenhaal would make a great Ben.

It’s safe to say that Ben has seen some horrible things in his life, and Gyllenhaal could capture that better than anyone. Ben’s past and his present come out in full force to haunt him during Part II, and it would be fascinating to see Gyllenhaal having fun and having the crap scared out of him in a horror film such as It.

Jake Gyllenhaal – one of the most gifted physical performers of our time – would be able to make us believe that he was that fat kid from the first film. He’d be able to show us the ridicule that came with being an overweight child. He’d be able to make us sympathetic for him, despite the fact that, in the present, he’s a guy who looks just like Jake Freaking Gyllenhaal. That’s how good of an actor he is.
