Dream Casting The Losers Club From 'It' As Adults For The Sequel
3. Bill Denbrough: Lee Pace
When Jaeden Lieberher, who plays Bill Denbrough in Part I, was asked who he would cast to play the older version of his character in Part II, he chose Christian Bale. And while that’s certainly inspired casting, let’s be honest, as big of a hit as It is, it’s probably not going to land an Oscar-winner to play Bill. It is, after all, still a horror movie at heart, and Bill is just one of seven main characters. But that’s not to say It shouldn’t go after an actor who will probably win an Oscar one day. And that actor is Lee Pace.
A shining star on TV’s Halt and Catch Fire, Lee Pace would be the perfect actor to play the handsome and charismatic Bill. The Bill of Part II must become a reluctant leader, one who is swimming in fear while trying to exude confidence; and those are two things that we’ve seen Pace play incredibly well in the past.
On TV, and in his few movie roles, Pace is always dragging one character or another along with him, loudly leading while quietly being afraid. As a character who is in touch with the monsters hiding beneath him but doesn’t fully understand them, Bill – and as a result Pace – will need to connect with the audience and show what fear truly looks like. By playing both the big moments and the small, Lee Pace could carry the role of Bill to its inevitable conclusion.
