Dredd 2: 15 Stories We'd Like To See

6. The Pit

One of the suggested directions for Dredd to go in (writer Alex Garland thinks it's preferable, actually) is not on the silver screen, but on the small screen. If the character is destined to live on in a television spin-off rather than a sequel film proper, it'd do well to take a leaf out of The Pit's book, one of the longest running serials in 2000 AD history and essentially a police procedural set in Mega-City One, with Dredd as the grumpy chief who shouts at everyone. Dredd gets shipped off to Sector 301, which has earned the charming nickname of The Pit by being one of the most crime-ridden areas of the city, and its police force by being one of the most corrupt. So our hero is dropped into clean things up a little, along with mentoring a precinct of up-and-coming Judges and shooting a bunch of people in the face. It could be a sci-fi take on The Shield and if that idea doesn't excite you then I guess we aren't friends anymore (sorry).
