6. Dredd Hinted At A Bigger World
Much of the action may be confined to a claustrophobic tower block, but Dredd shwedly laid the groundwork for future sequels by hinting at a wider world.
We're given fleeting glimpses at the Cursed Earth - the vast, irradiated wasteland much of America has become - and that's enough to capture our imaginations.
Fans of the comics know what horrors and adventures lie beyond Mega-City One's limits and are well aware of how well they'd translate to television.
Similarly, the film showed us only a small patch of Mega-City One, a mindbogglingly huge city-state that stretches from what was once Boston to the former US capital Washington - and we saw nothing of the other Megacities.
Everything about Dredd hinted at series-building ambitions, but in a far more subtle way than Marvel and DC's cinematic output. We felt like we'd only scratched the surface with Dredd and Anderson and their partnership was just starting to take shape when the end credits rolled.
