Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. The Dynamic Visuals

Honour Among Thieves' $150 million budget certainly represents quite a risk for the movie's ability to turn a profit, but in the very least that price tag is certainly apparent on the screen.

This is a movie with a ton of visual variety and dynamism. First off, despite the extensive VFX work there are many expansive practical sets, and the strong production design is matched by some excellent costuming throughout.

The VFX may not be the most impressive you've ever seen, but in terms of creature and world design, they pop superbly.

Plus, the filmmakers get major credit for using so many practical effects elements - a number of the creatures featured throughout were clearly achieved with at least a partial animatronic element, as lends the film some welcome added charm.

All in all, compared to the many identikit fantasy blockbusters that come down the pike every year, it's nice to see one with some real visual personality.
