Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs
3. All The D&D In-Jokes
This movie toes the line quite impressively in managing to appeal to those who know nothing about D&D whatsoever, but also without watering-down the franchise's essence for fans.
The film is absolutely packed with in-jokes, Easter eggs, and references which should easily plaster a smile over the faces of most fans.
From making a crack about some of D&D's more arcane gameplay elements to blink-and-you'll-miss-it nods to Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights, and a brief-yet-hilarious appearance from the Intellect Devourers, it goes without saying that D&D fans will get more out of this than non-fans.
Once the movie hits streaming, fans will surely relish scrubbing through it frame-by-frame to catch every last reference and sight gag peppered throughout.
If nothing else, it gives the impression that the filmmakers cared about the material and weren't merely cynically transplanting the D&D brand onto a whatever fantasy movie.
