Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. The Generic, Forgettable Story

As is so often the case with ensemble-led blockbusters, Honour Among Thieves cares a lot more about onboarding the audience to its world and investing them in its characters than it does crafting a genuinely compelling story.

To call this movie's narrative generic is rather an understatement - it's about as boilerplate and familiar as fantasy stories get. If your friend was DM'ing a D&D game and this was what they came up with, you'd probably think twice about asking them again.

Ultimately what passes for a plot here is basically just a vehicle to transport the characters from one location to the next and tee up another set-piece, but would it have killed them to come up with something a little more interesting and less predictable?
