Each Sacha Baron Cohen Character Ranked Worst To Best

3. Bruno

Borat Sacha Baron Cohen
Universal Pictures

The flamboyant Austrian fashion icon, Bruno's outlandish antics cause some real comedy gold. The greatest Sacha Baron Cohen characters exist to draw out real-world prejudice by playing towards stereotypes, and Bruno is a big success in regards to this method of comedy. The amount of anger that this character insights within the people he encounters makes up for the majority of the characters existence.

The hostility within interviews is scary, and it's a testament to how brave Cohen is with his own safety. A particular highlight of this is his time interviewing openly homophobic skinheads at Evilfest, which was likely terrifying.

Some of Cohen's best work are the pranks that he pulls at big events to advertise his films, and Bruno has what is easily one of the actors funniest. Appearing on a harness at the MTV awards - only for it to malfunction and leave him straddling Eminem - was incredibly shocking but hilarious and captured a lot of what makes this character unique.

The only downside to Bruno is the limit of what he is capable of. The teasing of homophobic audiences is hilarious to a degree, but after a while, everything becomes a variation of the same joke. Familiarity is one of Bruno's biggest downfalls.
