Young Neil wears a t-shirt for Sloan in the Rockit green room, in reference to musical director Chris Murphy who is part of the band. Along with Beck, he also coached the actors on their Sex Bob-omb band performances, and every song you hear of theirs is sung and played by them. This coaching is made all the more remarkable if you bear in mind that actors Mark Webber and Alison Pill had never picked up the guitar or the drumsticks before this film, yet both were able to churn out decent studio recordings when the time came for it. Michael Cera, on the other hand, is an already-accomplished bassist who had to dumb down his performance so he didn't show up his bandmates.
