Pub number eight The Mermaid is so-called because it features Siren-like women attempting to seduce Peter, Gary and Andy into joining the Blanks, potentially dooming themselves. This is much similar to what mermaids were said to do to sailors, taking them to their certain doom by flaunting themselves. Obviously, the blanks attempt to do the same in the disco with The Marmalade Sandwich, who attempt to take the boys DNA through flirting and kissing. If you look at the Mermaid board, you can see the Marmalade Sandwich once more, as there is a red-headed mermaid between two blonde ones.
