Edgar Wright: The Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References

dvdfuzz Hot Fuzz is full of references to Shaun of the Dead but the most recognisable comes in the Somerfield supermarket where Angel chases down Pete the shoplifter. Before recognising that a foot pursuit is occurring, Danny can be seen reading the blurb for Supercop, but as Angel and Pete pass him he throws the DVD back in the bargain basket, revealing the DVD box art for Shaun of the Dead. However, the film isn€™t quite the same the regular UK/American copy €“ the DVD is titled €˜Zombies Party,€™ the release title of Shaun of the Dead in foreign countries such as Spain. It€™s a very considerate blink-and-you€™ll-miss-it gift to what must be an incredibly niche fanbase of Spanish rom-zom-com aficionados.
