Edgar Wright: The Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References
According to the DVD commentary, Angels use of his notebook to record and freak out Martin Blower was inspired by an incident involving Simon Pegg and a friend. When they were stopped for speeding in Peggs formative years, the policeman used his notebook to record everything being said. Much like when Blower yells stop writing and Angel repeats it back to him, Peggs friend asked the policeman to stop writing everything down, only to have his statement parroted back at him. When Danny shows the animation sequence in his notebook, the flipbooks pictures were drawn by Oscar Wright, Wrights animator brother.
