Elizabeth Banks: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

4. Lydia Mercer - Man On A Ledge

Man On A Ledge is yet another forgettable star vehicle from would be A-lister Sam Worthington. It€™s a dull thriller with lots of silly twists, which wastes Banks in the role of a cop investigating why Worthington stepped out onto a ledge. By the end of the film she€™ll wish she hadn€™t bothered. So will the audience. While it€™s a fun novelty to see Banks playing a tough cop, she doesn€™t manage to convince in the part. She looks out of place barking orders into a walkie-talkie or threatening someone with a gun, while the part itself is the cliché good cop looking for redemption that€™s been done €“ and done much better €“ in other thrillers. While she definitely gives the role her best shot, she€™s utterly miscast in what would have already been a forgettable role for a more suitable actor.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
