6. The Studio
Enders Game is being bankrolled by Summit Entertainment, the people that brought you The Twilight Saga. Hm. Okay, maybe that was a blip, what else lets see Alex Cross, The Darkest Hour, Bandslam, Sex Drive I think Ill stop looking. Sadly, it wasnt a blip. Whilst Summit may have backed some good films, most notably the excellent, sextuple-Oscar winning Hurt Locker, their back catalogue wont be producing a greatest hits album any time soon. The studios hits can be counted on one hand from an extensive list of cheesy, over-hyped and downright rubbish movies theyve backed in the last 20 years. Now it may be easy to point out that Summit arent making the movie, merely stumping up the $100m+ for its production and someone else is writing, directing and shooting the film. But the fact is, Summits backing of so many under-whelming and unbearable movies simply isnt a coincidence, and at the end of the day He who pays the piper picks the tune.
