5. The Director
Gavin Hood is the director for Enders Game, and also worked as a screenwriter for the film. Hes known for his Oscar-winning Foreign language film Tsotsi, a moving piece set near Johannesburg, but unfortunately hes also known for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, an appalling film that disappointed (to say the least) almost everyone in almost every way. Hood clearly has things to prove and may go on to more Oscar-winning success, but this is not the place for him to do it. Enders Game needs the right person on the job, and personally Id have picked someone like Alex Proyas for this job as, given his excellent work on The Crow and I, Robot, he clearly knows how to deliver sharply at the right moments without overdoing things, which anyone that has read the books will know is fitting, as they are not flat out action-fests, and instead contain particular moments of importance against a background of excellent storytelling. Beyond Proyas, big hitter Peter Jackson, given his excellent adaptation work on the previously cited The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, could have brought a wonderful world of class to this picture, or even David Fincher, for his wonderfully dark, gritty style, depicted so perfectly in Alien 3, Seven and Fight Club. After his sterling work on District 9, maybe Neill Blomkamp?
