Eternals: 9 HUGE Questions For MCU's Future

8. Could Arishem Become An Avengers Level Threat?

With Avengers: Endgame and the end of the Infinity Saga came the end of Thanos, the big bad of the franchise ever since The Avengers released in 2012. The Mad Titan was killed for good by Tony Stark, and he has left a huge hole in the MCU for another villain to step up and fill.

The general consensus is that this will be Kang the Conqueror. The character certainly has the pedigree to take up such a role, Jonathan Majors will bring him to life in Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, and has already played one of Kang’s Variants in Loki, but what if there was someone else?

At the end of Eternals, Arishem the Celestial was using the memories of Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos to decide whether or not the human race was worth saving. The monstrous beast clearly has the power to destroy worlds, and will likely already be on Doctor Strange’s radar if the Sorcerer Supreme is doing his job properly.

Clearly he is an Avengers level threat, but will the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes ever get to him? Arishem could make a very intriguing big bad for the MCU, and something wholly different from Thanos, however it could also be that the Eternals won’t need any help in taking him down. They have Starfox on their side now after all, so just how much of a role will Arishem have to play moving forward?
