Eternals: 9 HUGE Questions For MCU's Future

7. What Does THAT Voice Mean?

The second credit scene of Eternals focused on one character that really didn’t see as much screen time as may have been expected. Kit Harrington brought Dane Whitman to life, however his role was limited to just a short time at both the start, and then the end of the story.

However, he turned up once again after the credits finished rolling with something of a family heirloom. He opened a box to reveal the Ebony Blade, Whitman’s sword from the comics as his alter ego, the Black Knight. His family history had been teased throughout the movie several times, and those who know the character from the comics wouldn’t have been too surprised by this development.

However, before he could lift the sword, he was interrupted by a voice off screen asking if he was really ready for that. The character to whom the voice belonged wasn’t shown, however it was recognizable to many, and has since been confirmed by director Chloé Zhao to have been none other than Mahershala Ali, the MCU’s Blade.

This is a huge development for the future of Dane, Blade himself, and the MCU in general, but what does it mean? What does Blade know of the sword and of Dane, and vice versa, and can we expect to see Kit Harrington evolve from ‘Mr. Whitman’ into the Black Knight in Blade before returning when Sersi and her Eternals do?
