Eternals: Every Character Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Phastos
Phastos is perhaps the most well-rounded Eternal from a character development perspective - he has a healthy home life with his husband and son, which naturally clashes harshly with his past as a superhero.
As an inventor, Phastos has one of the Eternals' most unique and useful abilities, even if he is forced to bear the guilt of knowing that he steered humans towards building weapons of mass destruction.
The Hiroshima scene may lack subtlety, but it neatly and effectively conveys why Phastos fell out of love with humanity - save for his family, of course.
Many were concerned that the MCU's first openly gay hero would be cloistered behind innuendo and implication, but that thankfully isn't the case - this is some of the franchise's best representation to date.
That he's also a well-defined character in his own right is the icing on the cake.
