Every 2017 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best

6. The LEGO Batman Movie

2017 Comic Book Movies
Warner Bros.

Given how grim the DCEU still is (even with a tone adjustment), it was great to see the heavily parodying, delightfully funny LEGO Batman Movie became one of the most entertaining Batman movies ever made. The comic take on the character - married to the ingenious sub-genre of meta LEGO movies - is far, far more good than anything released under Zack Snyder's creative control.

Crucially, the film is also a lovingly crafted homage to the character and his universe, taking in 1960s camp, Joel Schumacher silliness and a self-conscious ribbing of Christopher Nolan's take on the character. Mercifully, it steers clear of too many cheap gags and the humour is actually pretty grown-up and there are more than enough references and Easter Eggs to appeal to proper comic book fans.

And of course, on top of that, it's a great little slice of pure entertainment with broad appeal to lots of demographics. And it deserves to be watched for director Chris McKay's excellent observations as well as Will Arnett's genius Batman performance.
