6. Aquaman

Aquaman might well be the most unhinged comic book movie released since the start of the DCEU. Even more so than Deadpool 2, in fact, because it has FAR stranger subject matter. Where else will you see a sub-aquatic bad-ass riding a kraken into battle against shark-riding fishmen and giant crab people?

And really, it's not just the premise that's weird: a lot of the execution is similarly odd, from the decision to write a script based solely on things you'd see emblazoned across the front of frat house T-shirts to the inclusion of a cover of Toto's Africa by Pitbull and the Snapchat filter de-ageing nonsense that's in there.

It's fair to say that it's a bit of a mixed bag, with some seriously poor moments and very ropey execution, but it's still a very entertaining popcorn movie experience. It's dumb, flashy and very, very silly, but a good deal more of it works than probably should. And it's definitely up towards the top end of the DCEU quality ranking.
