Every 2018 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best
4. Black Panther
Black Panther's pre-release hype was huge, but few could have predicted that it would do so well at the box office, even with the emerging dream team of Ryan Coogler and Michael B Jordan in the driving seat.
The character had made a huge splash in Captain America: Civil War and Coogler was given just enough scope to explore his own vision alongside making an MCU movie that had certain restrictive requirements placed upon it. The result is a film that deals with the weight of history, legacy and identity as much as Coogler's other movies, but which slotted into the wider franchise effortlessly.
The MCU has never been this political, this invested in identity issues or this positive in terms of representation and it's an important movie as much as it is a very good one.
It also helped to bat away those persistent accusations that Marvel movies don't have great villains, thanks to Jordan's Killmonger.
