Every 2018 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best
3. Deadpool 2
After director Tim Miller departed the Deadpool directing chair after the first movie, Deadpool 2 could have been a bit of a nightmare for Fox. The sequel would inevitably come with the need to escalate and the problematic trope of Minion Syndrome hanging over it (whereby a sequel is reduced to the parts of the first movie that worked without consideration for actually making a movie around those elements).
But Fox were inspired in their decision to hand even more control to Ryan Reynolds and to team him up with John Wick co-director David Leitch, whose eye for fight-choreography and story-telling complimented Reynolds' character work to create a superior experience.
The jokes are funnier, the heart bigger and the outrageousness more outrageous and it all comes bundled with a greater emotional maturity that leads to genuine tears. And on top of that, it's full of some of the most surprising shocks of the year.
