14. Batman: Gotham By Gaslight

When these Warner Bros animated releases are good, they're great, but too many of them end being mixed bags like Gotham By Gaslight. It has some big things going for it, like the performances behind the animation, but the animation itself feels ordinary and the action is uninspired.

For what it lacks in technical terms, Gaslight makes up with story and intrigue, though, and it has one of the best reveals in the genre of the year.

13. Batman Ninja

When there are so many similar comic book movies coming out (at least thematically), seeing something as bold and unique as Batman Ninja is always welcome, even if it's not ENTIRELY successful.

This animated release is one of the more visually arresting of the year and the character designs in particular are great, but the overall execution was let down by technical issues (like the lip-synching being out) and a chaotic lack of focus. It's also not exactly the most progressive release of the year, with some worrying female representation issues, but that seems to be a recurring issue these days.
