Every 2018 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best

8. Once Upon A Deadpool

Once Upon A Deadpool
Fox

Once Upon A Deadpool was a strange thing to exist at all, to be honest, but it scored immediate points for Fox giving partial box office takings from its super-limited cinematic re-release to the Fudge Cancer charity. And there was something very clever in the idea of a fourth-wall breaking movie that would comment on the nature of censorship and the film industry with Deadpool as the perfect mouthpiece, that's not really what the recut is.

Instead of using the re-release as an opportunity to self-censor in what could have been a very funny way, the film mostly just tones down the violence and the swears to push to the limits of a soft-R and removes some of the stuff people would have signed up for in the first place.

It doesn't really compromise on quality, and there is new material in there that adds something, but it's a hard sell to justify its own existence beyond a bit of a stunt. Plus, people who "weren't allowed" to see it because its rating would have still seen it anyway.
