Every 2020 Movie That Could Make A Billion Dollars

If there's one thing you should never do, it's bet against the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of the franchise's last six films, five have made over a billion dollars, while two of them made over two billion dollars. These movies print money, and from now on, there's going to be billion-dollar chatter every single time a new entry rolls around.

Now, granted, of those five aforementioned hits, only two were non-sequels, but still, Black Panther and Captain Marvel proved that the MCU doesn't need the combined might of the Avengers in order to break box-office records. As a result, The Eternals - making their big-screen debut - could also hit one billion.

MCU connection aside, there are a number of other factors working in the movie's favour. It has an extremely buzzy cast, with two Game of Thrones alums (Richard Madden and Kit Harington), one of the most popular comics of the last few years (Kumail Nanjiani), and Oscar-calibre talent in Angelina Jolie. It's also releasing in early November and has literally no tough competition for the entire month - and even, arguably, for the rest of the year (only Dune and Uncharted are pegged for December).

But ultimately, it's the Marvel name that will propel The Eternals to a billion, if anything. A post-credits scene after Black Widow could also help, but it just needs to be another solid entry in the MCU, and let the word of mouth and media coverage do the rest.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
