Every Adam Sandler Movie Ranked Worst To Best

28. The Longest Yard (2005)

The Waterboy Adam Sandler
Paramount Pictures

The Longest Yard is a slight oddity within Sandler's career, forcing the actor to play against type in a remake as a famed quarterback (hard to buy) who, in jail, must train a team of convicts to play against the guards.

Sandler never gets comfortable in the role originated by Burt Reynolds in the 1974 original, who reappears here in an entirely new role, because he can't seem to find a balance between the original film he's honouring and his own screen persona.

Nonetheless, the film has some fun moments, particularly in the entertaining final match, just don't go in expecting anything more than a bowl of empty calories.
