The best sequel movies need to make sure that they carry the spirit of their predecessor whilst taking the story forward and making everything bigger. It's safe to say that American Pie 2 did a good job with this, which is why it sits atop this list. It might not be the most technically sound, most relatable or grossest American Pie flick, but it has all the right ingredients and captures the series' vibe best.
American Pie 2 follows up on the previous movie, with all the leading cast now in college. The group decide that they should throw the best Summer they can by renting out a beach house and partying together.
It's a significant step-up from the previous movie, as teen sex comedies tend to suggest that after your virginity is lost, everything improves. This flick says that's not the case, as all of the lads still struggle with sexual frustration and issues - Jim in particular.
It also does an excellent job with the evolution of Jim and Michelle's relationship, as their coupling becomes less of a joke and more of a legitimate romance. Viewers even got a great bit of fan service as they were finally able to go to band camp and see what it was actually like.
