Every Avenger's Best Performance OUTSIDE The MCU

5. Tom Holland - The Devil All The Time

At this point in his career, Tom Holland must be over the moon as he plays one of history's biggest and most recognisable superheroes. The beloved character of Spider-Man carries with it a huge following and no matter what he does next, for many people he will always be shy and awkward Peter Parker.

Which is why it's fun to see him take on roles that are completely opposite to his MCU one. And in the recent Netflix grim-fest that is The Devil All The Time, Tom Holland not only steps up, but hits every bullseye with his role as the violent protagonist.

As Arvin Russell, he's an orphan who grows to become a vengeful and determined protector of his adopted family. He's a cigarette-smoking, knuckle-busting, god-hating thug who cracks jaws faster than you can think.

It's made all the better as Holland puts all his acting range into a character that is passive when he wants to be, but will dish out gasping violence at a moments notice. The accent Holland uses is a deep-South lilt that I'm sure we'll never hear him use ever again in his career.

If you have little over two hours spare, go watch Peter Parker go toe-to-toe with The Winter Soldier and Batman. It's incredible.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
