2. Brie Larson - Room
Brie Larson may still be green in terms of her days in the MCU, but she already made a notch or two as Captain Marvel, a hero you most definitely want on your side in a fight. With a broad career behind her, and an interesting one still to come, it will be interesting to see what Larson has to offer outside (and in to be fair) the MCU.
Her Oscar winning performance in 2015's Room always takes audiences' away whenever the film is watched. The role of Joy Newsome is a dark but humbling one, filled with tragedy and despair and it really shows a performer's talent when they can role all those complicated emotions into a small but groundbreaking movie.
Watching Room, we're immediately sympathetic and warming to Joy, but we're also bitter and unsure of her at times. She's the hero of the story, but at times she doesn't make herself likable. She's a mother to a child who has never set foot outside a confined prison, and we can feel her frustration in every scene.
It really shows an actor's ability when we can learn so much about what's going on in a character's head with so few words.
