Every Avenger's Best Performance OUTSIDE The MCU
13. Paul Rudd - Living With Yourself
Who doesn't love Paul Rudd?
That ageless smile alone is enough to comfort you after a hard day, and while the Ant Man films (and character) are some of the lightest spots in the MCU, I have no doubt it wouldn't give us the same fuzzy feeling if Ant Man was played by a less charming actor.
The back catalogue of Rudd's film repertoire is a long one, but (and you have to admit) he does appear to play roughly the same character in most of his films. So imagine for a second, if Rudd was playing both his delightful and confident self as well as his earnest and sorrowful persona.
In Netflix' brilliant comedy-drama Living With Yourself, Rudd plays Miles - a depressed and pessimistic man who finds himself dealing with a cloned "better" alter ego of himself. Hilarious sitcom hijinks should ensue, but instead what we see is one character confronting a crisis of identity with what it means to take initiative and be happy.
This is a role we rarely get to see Rudd play, and he's brilliant throughout. With both characters, Rudd brings his dorky and likable qualities in two different ways - and just like that, he's won us over, even if one of his Miles personas is a little sinister.
