Every Batman Movie Ending Ranked From Worst To Best
5. The Dark Knight Rises
Director, Christopher Nolan, didn't make a single misstep with the first two entries of his Dark Knight trilogy. Despite the fact Batman Begins and The Dark Knight recieved universal acclaim, fans couldn't help being skeptical about how The Dark Knight Rises would turn out. The previous instalment was so perfect, it didn't seem possible for the final entry to match its quality. Also, this was during a time where many people still believed in "the last entry in a trilogy always sucks" curse.
Although The Dark Knight Rises isn't perfect, it was a satisfactory conclusion to Nolan's saga. Even though there was a lot of subplots, everything was tied up very neatly. After Bats supposedly sacrifices himself to save Gotham, Wayne Manor is turned into an orphanage, a statue is forged to honour our fallen hero, and Alfred retires. In the closing moments, Alfred discovers Bruce Wayne is alive and living abroad with Selina Kyle.
In the final shot, John "Robin" Blake discovers the Batcave, highlighting Gotham will still be watched over by a crimefighting vigilante. Although Blake's not the same hero the city knew, it reiterates Batman's philosophy, "It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me."
