Every Batman Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
11. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Batman v Superman was the massively anticipated big-screen slug-fest between Ben Affleck's new iteration of the Caped Crusader and Henry Cavill's mopey Man of Steel.
On paper this seemed pretty tough to screw up, and yet Zack Snyder's operatic, visually stunning spectacle collapses under the weight of its bloated, convoluted storytelling and the simple fact that there's precious little Batman v Superman to speak of.
The machinations that set the titular fight in motion - at the behest of a scheming Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) - are such a stretch you can practically hear the film itself straining if you listen closely.
The brief mid-movie battle itself is fun for a moment, but once Batman hears the name Martha, it's all over.
Predictably, the rest of the film is concerned with the pair teaming up to stop Luthor and his CGI abomination Doomsday, with a fan-serving cameo from Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) thrown in to boot.
Though the Ultimate Edition of the movie is certainly an improvement (if also longer), Batman v Superman needlessly complicates a basic concept with its tiresome, over-egged script.
Affleck is fantastic as Batman and the film's easy highlight, even if seeing the Dark Knight flat-out murder criminals left many fans feeling queasy.
