Every Batman Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

10. Batman Forever

Batman and Robin The Dark Knight The Batman
Warner Bros.

There's perhaps no more divisive Batman movie than this - for many its elevated aesthetic and more child-friendly pivot from the gothic darkness of Batman Returns was just too much, while others praised Joel Schumacher's stylised maximalism and its solid cast.

Batman Forever is an unmistakably jarring sit following on from Batman Returns, but its psychological approach to Bruce Wayne as a character - played here by Val Kilmer, admittedly no match for Michael Keaton - and Jim Carrey's mile-a-second performance as The Riddler make it well worth the price of admission.

It's certainly a corporate Product of a movie rather than a slice of blockbuster art and suffers from all the compromises that suggests, but its striking neon-soaked aesthetic and enthusiastic zaniness make it tough to dismiss out of hand.
