Every Batman Movie Villain - Ranked From Worst To Best

3. The Penguin (Batman Returns)

Topping the previous film's villain was a tough task, but Danny DeVito came close in Tim Burton€™s 1992 superhero sequel Batman Returns. We got to see the villainous origin story, with the film opening with a flashback to Oswald Cobblepot€™s abandonment as a child. DeVito€™s Penguin is the most gothic Batman villain to date, with his disfigured body, limping demeanour and terrible posture culminating in a gruesome baddie who was visually akin to an evil Hunchback Of Notre Dame. The actor brought his slimiest smarm to the part, creating a villain who seemed scary and unpredictable to children and adults alike. That sinister smile sticks with you for a while after the credits roll, for example. With his trick umbrellas, giant rubber ducks and gothic apparel, DeVito and Burton€™s version of the Penguin is one of the most visually memorable villains of all time. Add DeVito€™s creepiness to the equation, and you€™ve got one of the best Batman baddies ever.
