Every Ben Affleck Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
13. Changing Lanes (2002)
The late Roger Michell's Changing Lanes is one of those solidly mid-brow dramatic thrillers that simply wouldn't get a theatrical release these days.
Affleck stars as a young Wall Street hotshot who has a car accident involving a downtrodden alcoholic insurance salesman (Samuel L. Jackson), setting in motion a game of one-upmanship as each attempts to get back at the other.
It's impossible to ignore the racial lines down which this story is drawn, though Michell is evidently far more interested in crafting an increasingly silly yet thoroughly entertaining chess match between his protagonists.
It's a joy to watch, in large part thanks to an electrifying Jackson, even if the ending feels a little too tidy and almost certainly wouldn't fly today.
