Every Ben Affleck Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
7. The Last Duel (2021)
Ridley Scott's recent historical actioner is one of his strongest efforts in years - a Rashmon-style drama examining the differing perspectives on the apparent rape of Marguerite de Carrouges (Jodie Comer) at the hands of squire Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver).
With a script co-written by Affleck, Matt Damon, and Nicole Holofcener, this is an intense and at times unexpectedly funny film that matches entertainment value with social relevance at every turn.
Jodie Comer gives the standout performance as a woman desperate to be heard, while Affleck steals basically every scene he's in as the campy Count Pierre d'Alençon.
It's a performance that on paper probably shouldn't work, and yet he plays it just daftly enough to work without descending into pure caricature.
