80. Braveheart (1995)
It’s fair to say Mel Gibson is far from the best director (or, let’s face it, person) around, but at least he knows how to create mindless, crowd-pleasing spectacle.
With Braveheart, he tells the tale of William Wallace’s crusade against the British, complete with over-the-top violence, historically inaccurate plotlines, and cartoonish performances. Preferring unsubtle action to compelling storytelling, it’s exciting popcorn entertainment, but honestly that’s about it.
