22. Gone With The Wind (1939)
The issues with Gone with the Wind are glaring to say the least - its racism and icky depiction of women are hard to stomach - but there's no denying the sheer technical brilliance of Victor Fleming's epic romance.
The product of a Hollywood not yet willing to tackle its many flaws, the drama has aged poorly on a thematic level, though its iconography, whip-smart dialogue, and commendable confidence keeps it from becoming totally unforgivable.
As a whole, it's impossible for anyone not to be bowled over by the what Gone with the Wind achieves, or how it remains such a classic with endless influence. The attitudes have changed, and rightfully so, but the truth is no one is making movies like this anymore.
