Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best
14. For Your Eyes Only By Sheena Easton
There are some very interesting facts about the title song, including that it was chosen over a song written and performed by Blondie. Another funfact is that the Sheena Easton number was a massive commercial success, even reaching number 1 on the billboard hot 100.
While the song definitely works as a Bond anthem and is far superior to the songs that were to follow it in the Moore era, the fact it was nominated for an Oscar is quite staggering. The success of the song worldwide no doubt prompted this, but considering not one song from the Connery era was nominated, it seemed a staggering decision, although at least more deserving than Sam Smith's abomination.
Easton hits the right notes and the idea of a love song does tie in quite nicely to the developing love story present in the film between Bond and Melina Havelock, a woman seeking revenge for her father's death.
It's just that the song is (again!) quite forgettable, with no 'big moment'. The song feels more like a nice song playing in the background for a dinner date than a classic hit, and therefore falls short of a top ten entry on this list.
