Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best

13. You Know My Name (Casino Royale) By Chris Cornell

Chris Cornell's passing in 2017 sent shockwaves throughout the music community, the talented singer songwriter best known for leading Soundgarden and Audioslave. One lesser known fact about Cornell is that he also has a contribution as singer and songwriter for a Bond film, Daniel Craig's first in the role. The song is a solid if not spectacular number that works as part of an exciting opening title sequence where Bond defeats victims and turns them into playing cards- trust me, it's cooler than it sounds. The upbeat rocky feel of the song matches the imaginative visual premise without exactly driving it forward.

While it's not a necessity for a Bond theme to do so, the failure to incorporate the title of the film into the lyrics did somewhat harm the song's impact and a reason why it is largely immemorable when it comes to 007 anthems. Interestingly this has become more of an ongoing trait as the Craig era continued, with only Adele's masterful Skyfall following the standard 007 template. Considering just how amazing that number was, maybe it's a template that should be investigated once more.

For the record, You Know My Name was a top 10 hot in the UK but failed to make an impact around the world, barely registering in the US. It still holds up as a decent effort for a talented artist gone far too soon.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
